I got accepted into smfa's summer program!!!!

Life is getting so much better!

I have made so much work in the past week. I feel the inspiration!!!!!!!!!! Im so excited! my personal life is slipping but Im totally okay with that. I just need time to sort things out. Im going to be doing a workshop with Janet Fish!!!!!!!!!!!! also there is more to come with my sleeping project!

My art is about interpersonal relationships, connectivity and, recollections. Most things in life are tangible but, ideas and emotions aren't. In my work I try to display how in my mind relationships, ideas and, emotions can be tangible. I took the word tangible and incorporated this into my work in a very literal sense. I display this by using hands because they are the appendages most associated with tangibility. Relationships can also be taken in a literal and figurative sense. This is referring to the physical and emotional aspects of a relationship. I find it hard to understand the relationship from one being to another because they come with great complexities. My work is about the discoveries I find in everyday life that deal with relations of figures, objects and, the space around them. The figures in my works are erratically placed in positions that could be seen as restrained or awkward. This is because in real life situations everything is recognized as awkward until it becomes familiar to us. Connectivity as a theme is very relevant to my work because I find that everything and anything can be associated in some way shape or form. My art is also about the idiosyncratic symbols I find security in. This is to say that one may interpret a symbol in a specific way while, another being may find a completely different interpretation of the symbol. I think a lot about issues with the brain and memories. Memories are recollections of images, thoughts and sounds that become familiar to us because they are personally significant in some way. Humans make connections based on experiences. Humans also store memories in different sections of the brain. The system that stores the memories is called the simplex memory neural network also called the SMNN. Memories are stored in the SMNN bank and the brain creates connections between the memories stored in the SMNN bank thus producing patterns that connect to other related patterns. I use printmaking as a form of showing the repetition of my ideas because printmaking deals with creating an image and repeating it using one source. The human brain symbolizes the source of the memories and creates pattern and repetition based on the images, thoughts and sounds produced. I also think about the alteration of memories. Our brains cannot replay exact details of events just independent parts of memories which are then pieced together to form a relative conclusion as to what happened.

Connectivity is another theme common to my work because i find that everything and anything can be associated in some way shape or form. I think a lot about issues with the brain and memories. Memories to me are really significant. I find that when i try to remember past issues i end up altering that memory in someway. Some part of that is due to the fact that when most people dream they draw back on past memories and manipulate them to either fit their needs or to bring up any doubts they had about the situation. Moreover my work is about the obscure things i find security in.


ALSO... the reason behind the squid drawings is because i made an oath that i would draw at least one cephalopod everyday for a month to symbolize the idea of being restrained. My emotions are starting to take over my life and i feel as though im being constricted(by tentacles)

i've been starting to think about all these crazy conceptual ideas and philosophies. i do so much research and i'd like to hear other peoples thoughts on them. anyone wanna chat?
